About this skill

Weekly Planning Assistant takes an unstructured brain-dump of everything on someone's plate — tasks, deadlines, meetings, vague intentions — and organizes it into a realistic weekly plan. It prioritizes by urgency and importance, respects stated energy patterns or working hours, batches similar tasks together, and flags when the week is clearly overloaded rather than pretending everything fits. Built for anyone who ends Sunday night with a messy to-do list and wants an actual plan instead.

What it does

Given a list of tasks, deadlines, and known commitments for the week, the skill outputs a day-by-day time-blocked plan, a prioritized top-3 focus list, and an honest flag if the workload is unrealistic for the time available.

What is included

  • Day-by-day time-blocked schedule
  • Top-3 weekly priority list
  • Task batching by type/context
  • Overload warning when workload exceeds available time
  • Simple plain-text format usable in any calendar or notes app

How to use it

1. Download the SKILL.md file
2. Upload it to a new Claude conversation
3. Paste your brain-dump of tasks, deadlines, and fixed commitments for the week
4. Receive a realistic, time-blocked weekly plan

Examples

Example input
This week I need to: finish the Q3 budget doc (due Fri), prep for board meeting Thursday, respond to a pile of emails, have 1:1s with my 4 direct reports, review the new hire's first project, and I really want to start outlining next year's strategy. I have meetings most mornings already blocked.
Example output
WEEKLY PLAN

TOP 3 PRIORITIES: 1) Board meeting prep (Thu deadline, high stakes) 2) Q3 budget doc (Fri deadline) 3) 1:1s with direct reports (relationship-critical, time-sensitive)

MONDAY (afternoons free): Budget doc — data gathering block (2hr) | Email batch (30min)
TUESDAY (afternoons free): Budget doc — drafting (2hr) | 1:1 with report #1
WEDNESDAY (afternoons free): Board meeting prep — slides (2hr) | 1:1 with report #2
THURSDAY: Board meeting (fixed) | Board follow-ups (1hr) | 1:1 with report #3
FRIDAY: Budget doc — final review & send (1.5hr) | 1:1 with report #4 | Email batch (30min)

DEFERRED TO NEXT WEEK: New hire project review, 2027 strategy outline — flagged below

⚠️ OVERLOAD WARNING: This week's fixed commitments plus the budget doc and board prep already fill available focus time. New hire review and strategy outlining have been pushed to next week to avoid burying the two hard deadlines — recommend explicitly rescheduling rather than letting them slip silently.

FAQ

What is this skill for?
It turns an unstructured brain-dump of tasks and deadlines into a realistic, time-blocked weekly plan.
How do I install it?
Upload the SKILL.md file to a Claude conversation and paste your weekly brain-dump.
Will it tell me if I have too much on my plate?
Yes — it explicitly flags overload rather than forcing everything into the week, and suggests what to defer.
Does it sync with my calendar?
No, it produces a plain-text plan you can manually enter into any calendar or notes app; it doesn't have live calendar access.
How is this different from a generic to-do list app?
It actively prioritizes, time-blocks, and flags unrealistic workloads rather than just storing a flat list of tasks.
Can I tell it about my energy levels or preferred working hours?
Yes, mention them in your brain-dump (e.g. 'mornings are my focus time') and the plan will be built around that.
