Claude Max, Team, and Enterprise Limits Explained
Claude’s higher plans use three different capacity models: high-usage individual subscriptions, managed seats with included usage, and an Enterprise plan that meters every token separately.
Quick Answer: Claude Max provides 5x or 20x the Pro session allowance but still has weekly caps. Team uses Standard and Premium seats with optional usage credits. New Enterprise plans include no token allowance: the seat fee covers access and all usage is metered at API rates.
What are the Max tiers?
Claude Max is available at $100 per month for Max 5x and $200 per month for Max 20x. Both include Claude Code, Cowork, and priority access.
Max 5x provides five times the Pro session usage, while Max 20x provides twenty times. These plans are monthly individual subscriptions.
How many Max messages are estimated?
For relatively short conversations using a less compute-intensive model, Anthropic estimates at least 225 messages every five hours on Max 5x and at least 900 on Max 20x.
These are estimates, not guaranteed quotas. Attachments, long chats, Research, extended thinking, Claude Code, Cowork, and model choice affect consumption.
What weekly Max limits apply?
Anthropic currently documents two weekly Max limits: one across all models and another specifically for Sonnet models.
The reset occurs at a fixed account-specific time shown in Settings → Usage. The five-hour reset does not override an exhausted weekly allowance.
How does Team usage work?
Claude Team requires at least five members and offers Standard and Premium seats. Standard includes base Team usage and Claude Code; Premium provides higher usage.
Organizations can mix seat types. Owners can enable prepaid usage credits, set an organization-wide monthly cap, and enable overflow for selected users or the full organization.
How is current Enterprise usage billed?
The current Enterprise seat fee covers access to Claude, Claude Code, and Cowork but includes no usage allowance.
All usage is billed separately at standard API rates. Anthropic says these usage-based Enterprise plans have no plan-level or seat-level cap, meaning usage is metered rather than included and capped.
How do self-serve and sales-assisted Enterprise differ?
Self-serve Enterprise uses prepaid organization credits. When the shared balance reaches zero, usage stops until more credits are added.
Sales-assisted Enterprise meters usage and invoices it monthly in arrears. Heavy usage increases the bill rather than reducing another user’s allowance. Spend controls can be used in both models.
What happened to legacy Enterprise seats?
Anthropic says older Chat-only and Standard/Premium Enterprise seat types are no longer offered for new contracts and are transitioning at renewal.
Legacy seat-based organizations can still have included allowances and usage-credit overflow, so administrators must confirm the organization’s current contract model.
