TL;DR

Test Case Generator Skill is a free, reviewed AI skill for testing & quality checks. Turn features, user stories, bug fixes, UI flows, APIs, and acceptance criteria into clear manual test cases, edge cases, regression checks, and QA-ready test plans. It works with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and is ready to use out of the box.

Not ideal for
  • The skill cannot create accurate test cases without enough information about the feature, expected behavior, user roles, or acceptance criteria.
  • It should not invent requirements, test results, screenshots, logs, or product behavior.
  • Generated test cases do not guarantee that the system is bug-free.

About this skill

The Test Case Generator Skill helps founders, students, QA testers, developers, and AI coding users turn features, user stories, bug fixes, acceptance criteria, and API endpoints into practical, executable manual test cases. It separates confirmed requirements from assumptions, identifies happy paths, negative paths, edge cases, and regression areas, and structures each test case with clear preconditions, safe test data, numbered steps, observable expected results, and priority. It supports web apps, SaaS products, AI-built apps, no-code projects, forms, admin dashboards, and APIs, and produces output compatible with common trackers like GitHub Issues, Jira, Linear, Trello, and Notion. Rather than inventing requirements or claiming a feature is bug-free, the skill clearly flags missing information and asks for confirmation, making it useful for anyone who needs to verify a feature or fix before release without a dedicated QA team.

What it does

This skill takes a feature description, user story, bug report, PR description, or acceptance criteria and produces structured manual test cases, including preconditions, safe test data, numbered steps, observable expected results, and priority, covering happy path, negative, edge case, permission, regression, mobile, accessibility, and API scenarios as relevant, while separating confirmed requirements from assumptions and never claiming the resulting tests prove the system is bug-free.

What is included

  • SKILL.md — concise runtime instructions for the AI assistant
  • workflow.md — step-by-step workflow for creating QA-ready test cases
  • test-design-framework.md — framework for test objectives, scope, preconditions, test data, steps, expected results, test types, priority, and acceptance checks
  • manual-qa-checklist.md — checklist for functional testing, forms, permissions, UI, accessibility, API, regression, and release readiness
  • edge-case-and-regression-guide.md — guide for identifying edge cases, boundary conditions, permission risks, service failures, and regression areas

Examples

Example input
I need test cases for importing a piskill-admin-import.json file into the PiSkill admin dashboard.
The JSON should include title, slug, category, descriptions, page_content_md, related skills, related articles, FAQ q/a objects, SEO title, and meta description.
The system should reject FAQ slugs. Only admins should be able to import.
Example output
Test case: Import valid PiSkill admin JSON
Preconditions: User is logged in as an admin. A valid piskill-admin-import.json file is available.
Steps: Open the PiSkill admin dashboard, choose the JSON import option, upload the valid JSON file, review the preview, and confirm import.
Expected result: The skill page fields are populated from the JSON. FAQ appears as q/a objects. page_content_md is rendered as public page content. No FAQ slugs are created.

Negative test: Upload a JSON file containing a faq_slugs key.
Expected result: The import is rejected with a clear validation message explaining that FAQ slugs are not supported.

Known limitations

- Generated test cases do not guarantee that the system is bug-free.
- Some automated, security, performance, or compliance testing may require specialist tools and expert review.
- Test data should avoid real passwords, API keys, private customer data, payment data, or confidential information.

Wish it had a Spanish voice preset, but overall very solid.
