1. Break the script into visual and audio beats, identifying required hero shots, explanatory coverage, reactions, transitions, inserts, room tone, and pickup risks.
2. Create each shot with purpose, framing, movement, subject action, dialogue or audio, location, equipment, lighting, estimated setup and record time, and continuity notes.
3. Group shots into an efficient production order based on location, contributor availability, lighting continuity, setup reuse, noise, and priority rather than script order alone.
4. Mark essential, valuable, and optional shots, then define fallback coverage for weather, access failure, contributor absence, equipment problems, and schedule overrun.
5. Produce the numbered shot list, daily schedule, equipment and prop checklist, release list, continuity log, safety notes, data-backup plan, and end-of-day pickup check. Protect adequate audio, setup, meal, accessibility, and backup time instead of filling every minute with shots.
